Psykotik,
That picture is of the older version of Epsilon moons texture. Here are a couple of where the texture is headed.
Image-Image
Image-Image

Hope these teaser shots give you an idea of what this one is going to look like.
The moon is going to have a greater water to land ratio than the Earth. About 85% water to landmass I think. The next moon out, Zeta is the reverse. About 85% landmass to 15% water coverage.

I plan on writing up a full synopsis of info for each planet and moon in the system to go along with the plug-in. That way there is some explanation as to what is being seen. 8O

Enjoy!

Hi Don...

I was randomly going through some old posts, looking for various bit of information, and I came across these sample images (found in previous posts of this thread) that you had provided. I can't believe that I had forgotten about them, they look so spectacular!

Would you mind if I use some of them as thumbnails for my Planetary Classification List project? At least until I finally get the time to start making my own textures? The only modifications I would make would be size (probably a bit smaller), and removal of the Celestia data. Also, what ever acknowledgment text you would like, I would be happy to provide next to the images (your name, email, web site, whatever....)

Mr. Edwards...

I sent you an e-mail asking for permission to use your Earth textures in one of my
up-coming tours. Sent this e-mail about three-four days ago and have not heard
anything back from you. What gives? Is your e-mail still not getting read?

Thanks, Bob

Sorry about that but at present I lost my internet access at home. I did mention this elswhere in the forum. I have to do all my browsing and email work from my brothers house.

Of course you may use the textures. As always just include where you got them from and a link to Earth Central.

By the way, what kind of tour are you palnning. If you do not want to go into to much detail here in the open forum you can private message me with details. The reason I am asking is that I may have something new you could use as well with your tour.

Ok now for some updates on this plug-in. To speed things up I have been given permision to use some of Jestr's planet textures to fill in. I should have all planets and moons fleshed out very soon. Then I will be able to put final things I need to do into action. So if things hopefully go as planned it should be ready soon. Again I am not going to give a deffinet date because of my present situation.
So here are some pictures to show how things are progressing.

The First of the final textures of B and its inner moons.

And now for the big change. I have decided to change HD28185-F to a totaly different type of planet. Because its orbit is equal to the distance that Mars orbits in our system I made F a Panthalassic type planet. The first picture shows its size in comparison to Earth and Neptune and there moons.

Now the pictures of F and its moons.

There are more pictures of B and F in my gallery.
You can view all the pictures of B at there native 1280x resolution here

and you can view F pictures here http://www.celestiaproject.net/gallery/view_al ... me=album17

As always all comments and feedback are welcome. Hope you enjoy the pictures and the progress.

I cannot tell you how much i look forward to your release. The images are really incredible. How about a shot of the orbits, too? I am very curious!

The texture for the Panthalassic world is EXACTLY what I've always imagined it to be for such worlds in my setting. Well DONE!

You know, you put my efforts to shame! It is absolutely amazing the amount of detail that I see in these images. I cannot wait until these can be downloaded.

I don't recall, is this the only extra-solar system you have done? If not, are the others available at all for downloading?

I have just one word. YUK! I can't believe I hoisted this thing off on everyone almost 2 years ago.
The textures by today's standards are just plain bad. Well maybe not all of them but enough of them to make me want to do a little remodeling. So here is where I at right now. HD 28185-B has a new face and it is beautiful if I do say so myself. Much more detailed and colorful than the old one.

Maybe it's just because I am currently at the stage of creating addons that Don Edwards was at two years ago, but I thought the old textures looked pretty good (I've seen worse), but the new ones do look better.

Hey Dollan,
This is the only add-on that I have made. It was released in an earlier form well over 2 years ago. It is growing into what I think may called a super add-on. As soon as the planetary textures are finished I plan on moving on to work on the asteroid belt and the outer ort type belt along with some comets.

rthorvald,
I could do a few shots of systems orbits. I think this might be fun to show the lay out of this system.

Very nice,Don,but I think the "b" planet texture is too similar to Jupiter. What are differences between the planets? And I would like to know why you such such type of texture,if you mind answering

Ah, back when I knew about Celestia, but didn't fully comprehend its coolness... heh. Well, all I can say is the scope of it pretty much hints at my own ambitions. Unfortunately, the quality on my end is limited by my hardware....

Still, a beautiful set up indeed!

It may well be that all jovians the size of Jupiter or larger look fairly similar, with the same banded look.

Still, the depth to that planet just astounds me. I can't imagine the patience that it takes to do that!

STUNNING!! WOW. Those look amazing...... i hope my own L-5 station addon will look nearly as good.
I do have a question, how did you do the earth-like planet/moons?

Beowulf01,
I could tell you how I do it but then I would have to kill you. Just kiding of course. I could go into to a long drawn out explanation of how I make an Earth type planet or you can go to http://s92198053.onlinehome.us/html/pla ... ooine.html and follow his instructions on how to do it. The way he makes his is fairly close to the way I make mine and I am sure is also close to how Jestr makes his. I hope this helps. I do plan on writting "Tutorials" on several subjects including making Earth type planets, other terestrials, gas giants, Cloudmaps of various kinds, and how to make snow and ice on mountains and in other areas of your textures. The later one is simply because so many of you have been asking how I managed to do it for the seasonal textures of Earth.
Hope the link helps and can point you in the right direction.

Hey everyone,
I though I would pass on some more info on the HD 28185 Add-on. I still have some work to do but someone asked if I could post some pictures showing the orbits in the system. Unfortunately with everything in the add-on turned on Celestia simply will not take a screen capture. So I had to resort to the old windows screen capture and then past it into Photoshop. It works and I can now show how this project has grown into the monster that has become.
So here are the pictures.

Image
This shot shows the outer belt that is similar to our kuiper belt. It consists of 400 various bodies at this time.
Image
this shot shows this inner asteroid belt that houses only 150 bodies at this time. I made this allot earlier so I plan on adding more bodies to it.
Image
Another shot of this inner part of the planetary system.
Image
This shot is from the outer part of the system almost at edge on.
Image
This shot shows B and the orbit of its moons.
Image
F and its moons orbits
Image
C and its moons orbits
Image
D and its moons orbits
Image
E and its moons orbits.

When the add-on is finished there will be two versions of the asteroid belt and Kuiper belt parts. The user will be able to use either the smaller less populated version or the more populated versions or they can be disabled completely. I still have to add a few comets, and a few rouge bodies here and there.
But this is pretty much how things are going to look from here. I hope this give everyone a better idea of what this is going to like in the end.
