The combined shuttle/ISS model wieghs in at around 3megs unzipped! My setup is pretty basic and the frame rate is still pretty smooth.

orion_nebula...I think this ISS model is one of the best orbital models so far...fantastic!

The Soyuz/Progress models are a 'terms of reference' I will try to get them up to the quality of the rest of the model.

Many regards...bh.

There was a problem with dates.I put in 2000,and the station appeared. But there is another problem.Mir has several parts appering and dissapearing. And ISS is lacknig some detail, like USA flag, the NASDA symbol.Could the problem is because of the bmp texture?I don?t remember if Celestia accepts this kind of texture

mmm...I'm not having any problems with the textures being bmp format. I wonder if this a graphics card issue. I haven't tried the Mir model yet and I must get Mir/Atlantis done soon!

Jens has converted the textures for this model to jpgs...look for his postings on this and see if this helps.

Mir and ISS problems solved

Post #26by danielj » 15.10.2003, 02:01

I solved the problems, with different sollutions. In the case of ISS,I put both 3ds files in Main Models folder. And in the case of Mir,I have had to delete the original Mir file. It?s a little weird

And download or go to the viasim link. There is an interactive ISS in
which you can add or subtract modules ---- ALSO the demo can be run in 3-d with shutter glasses or with red/blue anaglyph. NASA commisioned this before we knew about Celestia.

Is this a Celestia addon or a different program?

RE Different program

Post #29by alan_federman » 15.10.2003, 21:47

This is not a Celestia Addon - totally different program esigned to work in a web browser. Like I said it was commisioned before we know about Celestia. They derived their own 3ds model of the station, and then used a custom plugin to render the 3-d effects. NASA LT is not pursuing 3-d
actively - but it hoped(Hint-hint) that some bright Celestia developer will use the Open-GL tools for three-d to create a 3-d ad-on or module for

Orion, your website appears down again. I am anxious to get the new ISS models. Could you reactivate the website again?

Thanks

Thanks bh!

VERY nice model!
What is an X-33 - an escape vehicle?
What about this yellow thing docked at mir - is this one?

Btw, when I had to install DirectX V9 for using the Nvidia DXT-Tools, I found a link on the DirectX Page to a reference game using DX V9:

http://www.homeworld2.com/homeworld2.php

Wow! Good artwort! Look at the trailer an the screenshots. Excellent texturing. Ok, it has a certain manga comic style, and non realistic effects, like atmospheric haze between planets, but going back and looking at the celestia-draw sun makes it look quite dim and even dull.

Maxim,

The X-33 was a possible replacement for the Space Shuttle, but the project was cancelled. Here's a biased description of what happened: http://www.spaceprojects.com/x33/

The "yellow thing" is either a Soyuz capsule (used for transporting people; one is the current escape vehicle) or a Progress capsule (used for transporting cargo: food, air, etc).

Homeworld is a game, so it doesn't have to be accurate!

There will be haze between the planets when the sun expands to be a red giant, of course. Maybe someday Celestia will do volumetric rendering...
