(in the bottom of the material window, move the intensity slider to the top of its range).
The default for Diffuse is 0.700, and the default intensity is 224 instead of 255. Together, they make materials and textures darker than they should be.
I've never messed with the color value but I always set the diffuse to .65 or .7 I don't mind the effect actually, I think it looks better when it's a little grey.
Reiko, there is a big difference between the grey given by a 0.65 diffuse and a clear grey or "little grey" as should be. 8)
For a light gray result, diffuse should be about .85 to .95, together with a 240- 250 intensity, IMO.
As we told, in the original movie the color is white or a very clear greysh white, not grey.
Could you be so kind to give a try using these values, just to see the overall effect?
Please, Reiko!

The Enterprise A texture didn't come in a white. I'm not sure how to change it without messing it up. Here is its actual color.

If you know how to change it without making a new texture from scratch let me know and I'll do it. I tried doing a color fix in paintshop and it almost made it the right color but it also darkened the shaded parts making them stand out more. :(

Still tweaking the settings.

I managed to get them white but can't seem to get that cream white look. If you are good with paint shop I can use some tips. :)

Reiko, before Selden's reply about the need to modify "diffuse" and "intensity" in Animator, I tried to make whiter the 1701A textures.
Having no results I tried once again, and being results equally negative I stopped trying. :?
So the textures I have now are surely too much clear, but if you want give a try, you can find them here:
http://ftp.tiscali.it/andrea_celestia/medres.rar
If you'll see some improvement, I can modify them with Photoshop, tuning "brightness/contrast" and "saturation" values to find the right settings.
Or we can try something else.

Maybe one thing to try is to make a mask layer out of the texture and paste the darker areas onto a white background.

Reiko, it looks like you are much more expert than me with Photoshop, I never used mask layers.
Will you give a try?

I tried everything I could think of but still can't get the right color without washing out the textures. I guess it will have to wait until my knowledge of photoshop improves.
On the plus side, I've managed to improve the lighting effects.

It's by no means exact but is much closer to the lighting pattern seen in the movies.

And it looks VERY real, IMO.
Well done, Reiko, thank you.

Reiko, when you make the CMOD, wheter in ASCII before to fix in binary, can you add to the main texture0 a second white texture with a conforming blend add value to see what happen?

I have no idea how to add a second texture anywhere in the process other than emissivemaps.

NCC-1701-J

This ship was only seen in one episode as a graphics display.

I tried that. Whenever I add a second texture the model will no longer work.

Very nice work on the more detailed Galaxy-class ^_^ By far my favourite ship.

By the way, Enterprise-J comes from the episode "Azati Prime" (Enterprise series).

Nice model as always Reiko, even if the ship itself is very ugly IMHO.

Edit: I mean the form of the ship itself.

I would have to agree. But yes, good work Reiko!

I kind of like the design, it's very futuristic even by Star Trek standards. I love how the warp engines are very small and thin in proportion to the rest of the ship. :)

Awesome job Reiko. Thought if I had to rate my favorite Enterprise ships, I think I would like E, A, The Original, B, C, D, J.
