Yes, I'll put stars in at least some of the spiral arms.

Here's the location of Audbeyon System:

Audbeyon is between the spiral arms and galactic core. I won't put too many stars because Celestia will slow down, but I'll put stars near each other to give the impression of having too many stars near Audbeyon. 8)

As I sad, I'll expand the add-on by adding at least some planetary systems in these extra stars.

your project sounds interesting, but obviously, you
don't know yet how to properly display my galaxies
;-)

Here are a few examples how they should look like:

I have never been able to get the galaxies to look quite like that no matter what I do.
I have followed everything you have suggested but they are just not the same.

My Audbeon system will be now trinary, with 2 near M0V and M2V and a third and much more distant M5V star. The barycenter of AB and Audbeyon C orbit each other, and Audbeyon C orbit is more elliptical than AB.

The Audbeyon AB system now have 17 planets ( 3 being gas giants ) and some big and small moons. Audbeyon C, until now, have 6 planets, one being gas giant and I'll add some more. Some planets, in both systems, orbit each other, forming a binary system. The reason of having so many planets is the high metallicity and great abundance of carbon. It'll take a while to finish both planetary systems, mainly now because I'm having tests in my highschool. :( :(

I also started to create a binary system that have a G5V star and a red giant M5III, both orbiting each other at big distances. Because of the big distance each other, the red giant affected little the planets of the G5V star. Instead of being very carbon rich, like Audbeyon systems, these 2 stars have oxygen and silicon rich planets, like our planet. The metallicity is still higher than on our solar system, so expect to still see many planets. Until now, I only made a gas giant with earth-like moons orbiting it, and some of these moons have atmosphere pressure and gravity higher than on Earth. 8)

I'm also thinking to make a planetary system in the edge of the Andromeda galaxy, where it's poorer in heavier elements. I don't know what type of star it'll have, but it'll have have 1 or 2 earth-like planets very rich in water, maybe some titan-like and europa-like moons, small lunar planets and at least 1 gas giant full of moons. 8)

But remember, each planetary system will have it's own add-on file. Some, like Audbeyon, that is big wil be separated in 2 parts. The first system I'll upload in celestiamotherlode won't be Audbeyon, but a smaller planetary system, maybe that with a red giant or that in the edge of the galaxy. 8)

Hello,

First off, I thought this was a very cool idea for an add-on and the core of Andromeda looks pretty amazing.

But I wanted to know what star cluster generator did you use to make it? I tried downloading Rassilon's one, but for some reason there's a missing Microsoft component that stops it it from working. I'm guessing it's just age, as I'm on Vista now and the thread where I downloaded it was quite old.

Any ideas where I can find one?

Thanks, and great add-on. :D

What is the missing component? if it's a .dll file you can probably download it.

Welcome, everyone!!

Just want to give you a briefing about the Andromeda Galaxy. I have been working on add ons for this Galaxy myself.

Andromeda is a very young, hot galaxy. The nucleus is surrounded by B and O spectrum stars very close to each other.

There are also large star fields towards the outer rim of the galaxy, consisting of the same B and O spectrum stars. One of the most famous of these is NGC 206, an addon that I currently have in development. based upon a massive star field consisting of very hot young stars.

Right now, I am having to piece the stars together one by one, because I do not have the appropriate star generator for these needs. I need a star generator that can generate stars of a specific spectral type, and Rassilon's generator cannot do that. I hope that Rassilon understands.

I may soon go into development of my own star generator that breaks down stars by spectral type, so that we can get the correct stars in the Andromeda Galaxy. Hope that it all works out.

Peace, Larre.. :D

Larre,

let me point you to the "games" I already played 1.25 years ago in our CelestialMatters site. http://forum.celestialmatters.org/viewt ... 10&start=0

I placed a set of orbiting stars into various galaxies, notably also M31 and the center of the Milky way.

Here are some videos I did then

MilkyWay

Andromeda:
http://www.celestialmatters.org/users/t ... 31bins.avi

Next I randomly generated 10000 orbiting binary systems in Andromeda (M31) with random orbital parameters, color classes and magnitudes.

http://www.celestialmatters.org/users/t ... s10000.avi

Generating any number of stars (e.g. 10000) of definite color classes is very simple and takes just a few seconds per color class. I use PERL to quickly generate the orbiting stars. The resulting .stc file (generated and printed out by PERL) you can download here:

http://www.celestialmatters.org/users/t ... 00.stc.zip
This file has of course never been touched by hand ;-)

The underlying math is quite easy: one simply generates the stars in galactic coordinates and then can move the result easily to any desired galaxy...
