Couldn?€™t you please provide a variant of landmask without 'residual light', just as t00fri suggested in the corresponding tread on Celestial Matters?

Sorry, I don't have the space at my web site to do that. The landmask was hard coded with residual light because currently, that is the only way to add the residual light and still preserve the coast lines, which would be over written if specmap tool were used. If you use the landmask, you don't use specmap tool.

We are working on updating my Watermask at Celestial Matters though. It's not ready yet but hopefully soon. Then a file that is equal in quality will work with the specmap tool and you can add or not add residual light as you please.

see my respective comments in CM.

Of course such a watermask exists (yet unpublished). Before its publication, the polar regime should be improved by merging with the official BMNG watermap data in the best possible way.

I just tried it again: I simply click on that link and use "dTa OneClick" of the well-known Firefox add-on. This gives me a perfect ~700 KByte/sec broadband download speed!

You might have your TCP receive window (RWIN) and MTU parameters set incorrectly or use a crappy download accelerator? Under Win XP there are tools to set these important parameters right (DrTCP ...)

Just look up the string "RWIN" in the net...

What is the content of the 2k file? Usually when I see this it's due to some error page being saved rather than the file. Often holding shift-ctrl to perform a fresh DL rather than using a cached copy fixes this issue. In any case the DL link listed works fine for me though, in Firefox with no DL accelerator.

jgrillo,

As previously asked,

What is in that 2KB file?

You can right-click on it and specify "open with".
Select Notepad in the popup window.
It'll open the file and show it to you.

Then DON'T use that crap if it doesn't work for you. I never heard of Downthemall anyway. I told you that the official download add-on "FasterFox" for Firefox, works perfectly fine. Nobody besides you has problems. So you must sort this out for yourself.

Right, but the Firefox download accelerator is FasterFox.

Both add-ons are important.
