Do stuff on Dune exist?

Post #1by Will Pittenger » 25.05.2007, 02:20

If nothing else, that universe shares only the location and existence of Earth with the real universe.

It's nothing, if not a sarcastic half-answer.
Please re-write your question exactly how you would say it to a person listening to you. Sometimes people write in a way that is incomprehensible (for an example, read your "question").

I mean no disrespect, but what you wrote just simply did not make sense.

Try this exercise:
Read what you wrote to yourself word by word, and dissect it's meaning. You'll likely find that it's confusing. Only you know what you meant to write, so if you write what you mean, we'll all understand. :D

Made sense to me. How did you interpret it?

Hey Will... I take it you want to add Dune stuff to your celestia installation? Am I right?

I'm afraid the title of this thread is not good english.

Of course, you wrote it.

Those of us who don't know what you were thinking when you wrote it are lost because your words are not clear and concise enough for us to extract an english translation.

Tell us clearly what you wish to do?

Amazing : already 9 posts because someone didn't care to ask a clear question. Not exactly the role model for a perfect "User Interface" ;-)

Indeed...

By the little I thought it was a question... then it becomes obscure... :x

Hey! Finally a post with a lot of irony! Will, "where should I go" sound like "in what repository the Dune addon is". It's right? :?:

Rassilon made the Canopus system including Arakkis (and it looks nice) but I can't remember where I found it.

http://dunehairyticks.blogspot.com/2006 ... rakis.html

mentions using Ras' Dune Addon.

In 2002, Icehunter constructed a Dune Addon of the Canopus system. I don't know if it's still available. The original Web page is gone.

Rassilon's Canopus Addon is available in his directory on Shatters:
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/canopus.zip (5 MB)

It only defines the planetary system and textures the planets, though. There are no spacecraft or locations included. The surface textures are rather good, but I don't know how well the Addon matches what the system is supposed to look like.

That must be where I found it. Here is a pretty good wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrakis

I am also unsure how accurate it is because I loaned the books out to someone before I learned my lesson on loaning books to people. ;-)
