New candy (work in progress)

Since I'm waiting for Chris to debug his recent sprite code and shadows on dots CMOD not working, I'm starting a new project. Guess what it is ;-)

Let speculation begin :

1- the base structure of an enormous linear particle accelerator set in space ?

Test prototype, just to check the general concept :

Still a long way to go ...

The long flat plane are solar panels (well, just a schematic prototype, for the moment). The cylinders are the main living sections. They will have a more complex shape : conical on one side and hemisphere on the exterior side. Not just cylinders. The evolution of that thing should be a bit similar to what I was showing on this topic :

Small update. I'm working few minutes a day on that thing.

Since its length has doubled despite the "few minutes/day only", I wonder, what the length will be after a week or two...? ;-)

Actually, it's very easy to duplicate objects. Copy-paste can do a lot of stuff. For example, it took few seconds to do this

Hmmm, my last picture gave me an idea : why not a spaceport ? There may be docking mechanisms, placed on each section (red arrows) :

Space ferries, shuttles to Mars, ... with all commodities on the spaceport : bar, restaurants, a movie theatre, etc...

It's fun to watch, in Celestia. I'm now forgetting the original concept and I'll work on that structure instead. Many details will be added inside the structure (Oxygen and Nitrogen reservoirs, tanks, cable, etc), and two docks per "arm". Once done, a "Taxi" will be docked, using an SSC declaration.
