I have the Cygnus X1 addon in my extras directory, but I don't see light getting sucked down the black hole. How do I modify the ssc file so that I can see light get sucked down the black hole?

You can't see light being sucked down to the surface. You might be able to see gas accrete, but even then not necessarily. You should take a look at this site for an introduction to Black Holes.
