Milkshape is an inexpensive (35 dollars or euros) 3D modeling program.
It's low cost, user friendlyness and ability to handle 60+ different 3D file formats make it the program of choice for video game modellers. This means that there a a very large number of tutorials available for new users.
In order to encourage the use of the program the owners have a free SDK kit available for download at thier site. I do not have the skills to create a plugin, but believe that a .cmod exporter for this program would be of great value. So I am asking anyone who has the time and skills if they would consider taking on this project.
The website is: http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/index.html
You can also download a copy of the program that has a 30-day trial period. The program has a 3ds importer and exporter. It supports both JPG and PNG textures, and BMP of course.
.cmod support in Milkshape, plugin creator needed, free SDK

Who would want to spent his time to first code such a plugin and thereafter pay 30 Dollars for being able to use it
If the authors have an interest in more plugins they should adopt a different scheme. Celestia is also GPL licensed and has involved a lot more work.
Also, it's not good to make Celestia effectively depend on a tool that is not free.
