I think I will try to use 7-zip File Manager.Later I tell you the results...

If you created NEW folders and NEW files as I showed above it should work.
The only thing I can think of that may be giving you a problem is that John's VT is compressed with 7zip. You may not be extracting the files correctly if you don't have this. Try opening the folder called level0 from John's VT. In it should be 2 files called tx_0_0.png and tx_1_0.png. Try to open them with an image program. Like The Gimp, Paint, or whatever program you have. You should be able to see the images. If that's not the problem I don't know what it could be. The directory structure I explained above works. I've been using it for quite a while.

I think I got the normals fixed. I used cmodfix to generate normals before(all the options at once) but the output file was very large. Too large. But when I ran cmodfix 5 different times, ( 1 with -u, 2 with -n, 3 with -u again, 4 with -o, 5 with -b) the file comes out the same size but with the normals fixed. I was using the windows version of cmodfix by Sean McGhee.

The first screenshot shows light coming from the upper left but the model shows the light from the lower left.

The second shot shows the result from running cmodfix 5 times.

This is the last big problem I knew about. If anyone else finds something let me know. There was another fix I uploaded last week but has not been posted yet. I'll try uploading this last fix tonight.

Hi all,

The latest version of the Grand Canyon of Mars is in my folder at the motherlode. It is called grandcanyon-of-mars-ver3.zip. The Vallesmarineris-VT level7 folders are there also. They do not appear on the main page though.

The latest version of the model has the following changes.

1. Near 1x exageration.
2. Turned up northern edge is repaired.
3. New texture set.
4. Normals are fixed.

There are other versions there, soon to be removed. The one you want is the grandcanyon-of-mars-ver3.zip

Cartride,

why are you so impatient and why do you stress this so clearly?
As you well know, I wrote an email to you to clarify your confusing
multiple file uploads for this add-on.
So please don't rush to the forums in the future and say something
isn't at the ML catalog yet.
All of your new or revised add-ons are available now at the ML.

Sorry,

I didn't want that post to seem that I was impatient. I just didn't want people to download the wrong file after I seen the right one was available. Try to save them some time. :?: Won't happen again. Also sorry for the multiple uploads. The ftp clients I have were reporting errors, lost connections, etc.
