Celestia's Educational Activities have all been updated for 2006. They include a customized version of 1.4.1 with sound and overlay textures, plus exciting sound effects, new add-ons and new astronomical facts for 2006.

Details have been posted in another post as a sticky in the Users forum. To read it, go here:

7 Planets blasted into Hyperspace! Mercury survives!

Post #2by Corben Dallas » 15.04.2006, 15:19

Frank,

first I'd like to thank you for your work. I really do appreciate that.

Installing the General Educational package and running celestia141-ED.exe I wondered if I teleported to some parallel universe:

Except for Mercury all the planets in our Solar System were gone.

After some investigation I found that in the file data/educational-solarsys.ssc the NightTexture definition of Venus [line 48] must be terminated with a " rather than with a :.

Greetings
Corben.

Corben:

Sorry about that. I caught the mistake a week ago and it is now fixed on Motherlode.

Oh ... the bane of a programmer!!! :x One colon instead of a quote, and the solar system disappears. I wish I could do that so easily with some of America's politicians. 8)

Thanks again for the posting

Regards

Frank
