Help with add-on

Post #1by bidmaron » 11.04.2005, 01:36

I'm a Celestia newbie and would like to know how to install an add-on. I downloaded a solar system add-on (Lera from Michael), and it has an ssc file, an stc file, a textures folder, and a models folder. What do I do and how do I get to the system once I've loaded it?

First I'd like to say thanks for showing interest in my addon.

Installation instructions should be included with the addon, but incase you didn't understand something, I'll write down the steps here:

1. Once you download the zip file, extract all the files into Celestia's extras folder, preferably into a subfolder so all the files aren't scattered with the rest of the addons you've downloaded.

2. Open Celestia.

3. Click on Navigation and go down to Goto Object. Type in The Lera Star and click Go To.

4. To visit any of the Lera planets go to Navigation again, and go down to Solar System Browser. This should display a list of all the planets, moons, etc included with the addon.

Please ask if you still don't understand something.

Michael :)

Still confused

Michael, I got your add-on from the MotherLode, and there were absolutely no instructions, only the models and textures folders and the .ssc and stc files.

Thanks for the help on 'The Lera Star,'. I was trying to type in Lera, and it wasn't working.

Also, on the Mac, there is no Solar System browser, so how do I get to your planets?

No instructions, that's strange. :?

Since there is no solar system browser we'll have to do this more manually;

Once you have gone to the Lera Star, click on Goto Object again and type in one these planet names in order to go a particular world,

This list has been corrected:

Kitherea
Jovalera
Marbles
Ringles
Pramarr
Quoffle
Minsaka
Kilderry's Comet
The Vomit Comet
Lera-Bopp
Shoescraper-Lera 9
Akiten
Jumwiy
Veralkynis
Seian
Sykria
Lecyuia
Meringue
Maria
Melaghite
Nightia
Cubewanoghite
Charbabeba
Kuiperea
Sednalera
Oortmar
Varunaumwiy
Shebabeba
Hoola
Volcanica
Icicle
Botanica
Wateria
Cometia

Again, tell me if there are any problems.

Michael :)

Trouble with some objects

Post #5by bidmaron » 11.04.2005, 22:46

What I've seen is most impressive, although there is a red scar on Minsaka that I'm not sure what it is. Ringles was fun to follow. Having said all that, I cannot access any object past Shoescraper (tells me the object doesn't exist).

By the way, did you see all my posts on your personal forum?

I think I've figured out the problem. If you can't see Shoescraper Lera 9, it's because I left out a hyphen, so it's actually Shoescraper-Lera 9. With the rest, I didn't know that you are not supposed to write out what planet moons orbit around in the Goto Object box, I'll correct the list above.

I've replied to the posts you've made on my forum.
