One way to reduce the demands of a particular viewing would be to use a different SSC catalog file. There could be separate catalogs for each of the different "ages" you mention.

If you change a catalog's filetype from .SSC to .sscNO, for example, Celestia won't recognize that file and won't load the objects that it mentions, even though they're in the same directory.

I suspect that providing additional specialized catalogs might be somewhat easier than repackaging everything

Ran II: website update

A while ago, Selden was kind enough to make new CelUrls for all the entries in the Ran Tourist Guide. I have now updated the guide Chronology with these, and also added his original document for Ran II to my gallery pages.

The URLs are compatible with the Celestia Windows 1.4 versions and OSX 1.3.2 both (haven??t tested for Linux). They allow us to jump directly to many key locations and moments.
