STC File Question

Post #1by mmarable » 01.06.2004, 04:07

Okay, I'm toying around with creating systems for Celestia, and I have a quesiton about the settings with the STC file.

I want to toy with super giant stars, something like an O5Ia. But when I plug that into my STC, Celestia labels it as an O5V.

I thought I read somewhere that Celestia determines the size of the star based on the magnitude. I believe I read this on a site in French (with English translations) that detailed all the settings for both STC and SSC files, but I haven't been able to find it again.

Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Could you post the complete star definition from your .stc file? I just tried creating a star with SpectralType set to "O5Ia" and it worked find for me. It would also be helpful to know which version of Celestia you're using--I don't recall any bugs in spectral type parsing, but you never know . . .

I'm using 1.3.1 and I think I got it. If I add a hyphen it works. So, instead of O5Ia is use O5-Ia it will work.
