Churyumov-Gerasimenko's nucleus shape

Post #1by The Singing Badger » 01.04.2004, 21:19

Now that Rosetta is safely on its way, we are all taking an interest in that-comet-with-the-stupid-name. I recently found a website which contains an image of the shape of the comet's nucleus, produced after a Hubble study. I haven't seen this mentioned before on the forums, so I thought I'd provide a link. The nucleus has an unusual and interesting shape, which would be easy for someone to make a 3ds model of. In the meantime, I found that Celestia's 'Golevka' model looks good enough.

If this is old news, just ignore me! :?

If you want a fairly simple model Ive made from the above info, though I couldnt bring myself to make it quite so regular or cross shaped as in the above pics you can find it here
