Post #1by Darkmiss » 19.09.2003, 11:21

Hello Jack, please could you help me out with something.

Since installing Celestia pre 10 my NEAR model will not display
and comes up as an error in the error log.

but im not sure if i have an ssc problem or it is a Pre 10 problem
or something else. :?:

could you check to see if yours is working ?

also here is my ssc file I'm useing, if you could check it for me, please.

I haven't installed pre10 yet (Haven't had time to dl it...) so I couldn't tell you if its an error with that or not.

However, you could try...
a) Renaming the model to NEAR.3ds instaed of near.3ds
b) Remove the line - Mesh "empty.3ds" from the placeholder part of the ssc

They probably wont help but since I dont have pre10 I cant help you more... I assume you've checked that all the files are in the right folders?! :)

Can you still "go to" NEAR?

Maybe you have duplicate versions of the ssc, or 2 eros ssc's or something...? :?

If someone else could try this out that'd be very handy...

Paul / Jack

I've swapped over the relevant new files of 1.3.1.pre10 into my root directory and am having no trouble seeing Near on Eros, using my original bookmarked location.

Just a hunch Paul, I notice the following is at the top of Jacks ssc;

Code: Select all

# For reference:
# Radius = 6.647
# Latitude = -41
# Longitude = -100

You haven't by any chance lost one of your '#' hash marks? The rest of your ssc looks ok.

Jack I tried renaming the model to NEAR.3ds.
And I removed the Empty.3ds line from the ssc

and Terrier, I dont have the four Hashed lines in my ssc file
I have checked for any missing, or extra enrtys?
And it still doesn't work at all, It's baffleing me.

Im quite used to the editing now. yet this refuses to work :?

It was working before the Pre 10 upgrade.
Which is why i need somone with this version to check NEAR for me.

Hmmm Problem Solved again :?
But not how it should be....

I Had to put the full near ssc code behind the eros entry and save them in the same ssc file,

when before when i had Pre 6 I had them in separate ssc files
and it worked fine.

Also now its working but not as it was.
Now when you zoon in close to NEAR, Eros goes see-through. 8O

Again this did not happen with Pre 6

Sounds like the NEAR ssc was being loaded before the Eros ssc. That's very strange- solarsys.ssc (and everything else in the data folder) should be loaded before anything in the extras folder...

If you replace your eros model with the hi-res one on seldens site, it shouldnt go see-thru any more.
