A fantastic vehicle...will it ever fly again?

OrbiterFan wrote:Well, I have been busy and have not yet managed to put your IUS/Magellan stack in ORBITER. BTW, I took a look at the IUS and it lacks the second stage engine bell. Is it OK if I add it to your model Jack?
I got some time today and I will try integrate it with ORBITER. And Jack since you seems to be very good at 3D models, would an stowed TDRSS on an IUS mesh be too much to ask? It was the first IUS payload deployed by the Space Shuttle.
[EDIT]
After converting the main IUS_Magellan 3ds file I noticed that the faces/points numbers were huge!
Total points = 36120
Total faces = 22206
Jack, any way to reduce these numbers on the meshes? Since ORBITER aimes at medium and low-end computers and low/medium resolution meshes would be great!

JackHiggins wrote:1. Yeah no problem you can add in the second stage engine. I didn't put it in, because we don't have any xyz for Magellan en route to venus, where it would be visible... (no, I don't think we ever WILL either- and i'm not looking)
2. I'll see what I can do about the TDRSS model... I'm back at school now, but I *might* be able to get it done over the weekend if I can find some good pics. Anyone suggest some good links?!
3. I could make a lo-res version of Magellan + IUS if you want... That'd be easier than the TDRS anyway! Is the large face count just my model without anything added...? It shows up perfectly in celestia, it's actually one of the medium-small size models... Actually to be quite honest it could look a bit crap if I made it any more basic than it is...What do you think- should I try making a lo-res model anyway?
