And as the experts tell you, GIMP is quite a powerful program (in about the same league as Photoshop, no flame wars, please
). But as it is powerful it takes some time to get used to it, especially the GUI. But it is definitely worth a good look. And there are a lot of tutorials for it out there and also in this forum.
