Nasa ISS model hightly detailled
Re: Nasa ISS model hightly detailled
In Celestia 1.5.1 and with the default 2k Earth texture, the ISS model is perfectly running between 15 and 30 fps.I can rotate, zoom in and out and I don?t have blank screen and rarely any slowdown...

Happy that you cant enjoy it , i think that a little visit inside the ISS would be welcome , have a look to my last picture.
Here inside Unity , the next compartiment with the astronaut is destiny
For the moment Zvezda interior is most detailled
(pressurized compartiment between zvezda and zarya)
Screw quatter in zvezda ,docking port from the TMA 14 is visible.

It is not included in the release 2, some modifications must be done on lot of models ( to see the Earth accross the windows)
Others changes:
-Destiny , node 1 and 2, Zvezda and pirs have now transparency windows
-correct radius for the node 1 and Destiny, installation of theese elements with complex SRMS movements from the Shuttle bay to their final position on the ISS are in work in progress.
-Gilles is now working on a new ssc file using references frames.
-Timeline change on Jem-external, UDM and Pirs2 (not actually installed)
-Best textures for Pirs Zvezda zarya and Destiny.

For the moment theese models are not optimized, i'am working with the 3ds meshes and with big jpg textures,
with dds texture and cmod meshes i think that it will give the sames performance as the release 2.
On my computer it is for the moment a little slower, but with Linux and my Mac keyboard, i can't find the key to see the framerate.
Note that the interiors will be done with separate meshes and you could use them like an option.

HTV mission on ISS
Lot of new features in my work in progress iss-construction, i am working today on the HTV japanese mission.
I know that the HTV module is docked to the node 2 Harmony nadir port.
But for the moment, the canadian hand "Dextre" is not on the good emplacement because that there is a collision between Dextre and the Canadarm2.
( HTV can't docked himself, the Canadarm2 placed on the nadir side of harmony grab the HTV module to dock it on the Harmony nadir port.)
Preview of the future pack iss-construction HTV mission.
Another picture with the dextre and the canadarm2
Someone know there is the good place for dextre?
Other news:
-Iss solar panel and p4/p5/p6/s3/4/s5/s6 truss have now a rotationperiod to follow the sun
-best size for the Node1, node2 and the shuttle
-Shuttle payloads are empty at each mission
-robotic manipulation for the srms , ssrms and the Strela russian boom
-New shuttle mission: STS 119 127 128 129 130 131 132 133
-New meshes:
MRM2 (pirs 2)
MRM1 (STS-132)
Canadarm2 (possible robotic movement if you are the king of ssc !)
Canadarm1 (moving on STS-88 mission to grab the node 1 Unity)
Strela russian boom (movement)
Node 3 Tranquility and Cupola
Jem-EF and Jem-ES
-ISS inside:
Node1/2/3 interiors
Pirs interiors
Zvezda interiors
Zarya interior
Destiny interior
Jem interiors

Re: Nasa ISS model hightly detailled
I don?t think I ?m going to have problems with framerate, since my future VGA is a GTS 250,already bought, but not yet installed.
My new configuration will be the same, but with 4 GB RAM DDR2 800,almost 1 TB of HD and the new video card...

Sounds like a High-End system... certainly compared to mine

Help needed to see ISS when running scripts tried the addition as suggested "OrbitFrame { EquatorJ2000 { Center "Sol / Earth" }}" but now after script starts nothing but a black screen.
Running CELESTIA 1.6 final or 1.6RC2
Can see ISS by just going directly to it an absolutely fantastically detailed model

Thank you
The next release will be more detailed
I have juste modify ISS.ssc and zvezda.ssc and tried them with the furnished script for 1.51
All was right with Linux scrips run perfectly, you cant download theses file and replace the original file with the new "patched" version:

Linuxman, this is an absolutely fantastic model of the ISS! Great work! I am about to download and install your last release as I type this. *Excited* Off-topic question: May I humbly ask which set of cloud textures as shown in your screenshots above, you are using? Thank you very much.

Re: Nasa ISS model hightly detailled
(all of what I write assumes that things will go according to the established plan, which is, as always, subject to change. Furthermore, I am only giving a very simple answer)
The shuttle will be replaced with Orion, a spacecraft designed after the Apollo spacecraft with much the same purpose in mind, human lunar return.
nesabelle wrote:What is NASA planning to use after they scrap the shuttle? I heard that NASA is abandoning the shuttle in the near future.

SpaceX and NASA have a contract that will have SpaceX deliver cargo to the space station. SpaceX also is pursing the development of a manned spacecraft, the Dragon capsule.nesabelle wrote:Are there private corporations that have promising vehicles/rockets for getting into space, does anyone know of any?

Re: Nasa ISS model hightly detailled
As someone who remembers Apollo so well - and as someone who felt passion again with manned spaceflight via the planned Constellation Program - well, I'm sitting back now to see if we have an administration who wants to make history or let history pass them by. Saying that NASA's Constellation Program (and the associated Ares rockets) can't receive money when money has been given "hand over fist" to private corporations, banks, etc. that have NO vision makes me believe that I'll be long gone from this world before I see the next person stepping on the Moon (let alone Mars).
Can I hope that "private" companies and mavericks like Rutan will get us there long before NASA can (or CAN'T)?
Can someone on here say something to convince me I am wrong? Pretty please...?

I can highly recommend this virtual tex for clouds, essential for close Earth views. Pity they can't move... why is that?
