I know that there is already a "most downloaded" page on the ML, however I've been thinking that as an addon creator, it would be informative if each individual addon page showed a running total of how many times the D/L link had been clicked for that page.
(eg. "Downloaded N times")
I personally think this would be helpful feedback. It would tell us which of our addons are being used and worthy of continued revision and enhancement.
I wonder what other addon creators think, do you agree/disagree?

I agree. The only way I have of knowing which ones people really like, are by the comments at the bottom of the description page. Only about 75% of my addons even have comments, then it's 1 or 2.
So, yes the stats would help alot.

For what it's worth, I agree...
I really don't know if Ulrich has the capability to do that though.
We'll have to wait a bit for his input because he's currently
on a well-deserved vacation.
Thanks, Brain-Dead

Re: New download stats on the Motherlode...
Agree, this is very useful for addon makers.
And can be implemented without requiring a lot of extra bandwidth or/and storage capacity.
And while we're on it.
When going to an addon in the motherload, there is all sorts of information.
Summary, Description, Addon Homepage, Creator, ...
e.g.: http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/show_addon_details.php?addon_id=1318
There is missing a dedicated field for Celestia version and platform dependence.
Also a dedicated field for other dependencies.
e.g. other addons, files, a program
Please don't use check boxes, only text fields
It's a good thing to add these fields because ...well... they are kinda important information you see.
Don't worry if you don't see, you will notice over time if you use many addons!
That's for sure.
(adding an example for each field would be nice for addon makers e.g. Platform dependence: platform independent, Windows 32 bit, Linux, ...)
