HELP! Orbit angle!
Ok. I just made a solar system and it includes 5 planets. One problem: All of them have no angle at all! If you don't know what I mean, think of the lines on an old music record. The planets travel on a line! How can I edit the SSC files to give them some angle??
Re: HELP! Orbit angle!
Planets orbiting around their star should be at different distances (SemiMajorAxis) and have different orbital periods (Period). More distant ones have longer periods and take more time to go around their orbits than do planets close to the star. If you want the orbits to be tilted with respect to one another, then vary the Inclination value.
With different periods and distances, planetary alignments like what you describe should not happen very often.

Re: HELP! Orbit angle!
Ok, well how do I change my SSC files to do so? I want some to have a tilted orbit. I don't want them to be perfect!

Re: HELP! Orbit angle!
Change the planet's EllipticalOrbit block to include Inclination.
Other EllipticalOrbit parameters are described in the WikiBook at
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Celestia/S ... ers..._.7D
Code: Select all
EllipticalOrbit {
SemiMajorAxis 1.5
Period 2
Inclination 45 # measured in degrees relative to Earth's orbit
}
