Chris, again I have to point out that this addon (with the tectonic plates) is a perfect candidate for an official addon!

BTW, no way to generate a version with the Earth oblateness?

I didn't tried it, but adding an Oblateness 0.0034 (same as for the Earth) to the SSC file should work. Have you tried it ?

Ok, just tried, it works fine. This way one can lower a bit the diameter to have something matching the ground almost perfectly. Cool!

Be cautious, if you give a radius almost exactly as Earth's, you may see some straight lines disappear under the ground. The borders model must have a radius slightly larger than for the Earth itself.

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Cham, do you use a fresh build with your borders and tectonic files?
I ask because on my config, since Earth now use some CustomOrbit and CustomRotation the borders are not any more aligned... Do you confirm such problem?

?? I'm using a fresh built made yesterday night. No problem at all with alignement. Of course, I'm using CustomOrbit "vsop87-earth" in my SSC.

Odd, on a fresh build I also get a CustomRotation "earth-p03lp"... Nothing like this from your side??

Nope, I'm not using this option yet. If you do, you'll simply have to use the same SSC options for the borders model (and also for the tectonic model). You need to use exactly the same SSC options for both Earth and the model, or else there may be some misalignement.

Ah, I thought I had again some kind of local problem.
Now, the problem is that when I use both declarations in the borders or tectonic ssc, the cmod won't display anymore. Could you do a test to see if you can confirm this?

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Then there's a bug. I'll do a test later today if I find some time. Currently, I'm building a new layer, at the cosmological scale this time

Probably, it's why I ask a confirmation before reporting...Cham wrote:Then there's a bug...
Anyway, take your time, there is no hurry.
EDIT, for me, none of the custom declaration work with the cmods...

I can confirm that there is a problem with the alignment.ElChristou wrote:Cham, do you use a fresh build with your borders and tectonic files?

Is the degree of misalignment about the same? -or am I using older versions of the files.

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
I didn't made the test yet, but are you using EXACTLY the same options in the CMOD's SSC file as for your Earth ? If so, then there's clearly a bug.

That what I have when I use Cham's addon with a fresh build. Now again using the default earth settings on Cham's ssc don't work for me. Could you confirm?

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Confirmed. I also use the default earth setting and svn revision 4404. The earth craters align just fine... Which by the way is a very cool addon.. I didn't even know about the big one in Sweden..ElChristou wrote:tech2000 wrote:...Is the degree of misalignment about the same? -or am I using older versions of the files.

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Guys, what are your SSC options, for both the Earth and the borders CMOD ?

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Cham, it's simple. Try the default solarsystem.ssc with your addon untouch. You should have the offset...

Re: NEW ADDON : Political borders on Earth
Ok, the differences are CustomRotation "earth-p03lp" (in the default solarsys.ssc), while I'm using the older settings. Try this : Change the rotation options in my cmod SSC file so it's the same as in the solarsys.ssc file :
Replace this SSC code :
with
Now, there may be another problem because of the Inclination -23.4392911 used in the older setting, while I'm using Obliquity -23.45 in my old solar.sys file and there is none in the cmod's SSC file.
The trouble isn't in the cmod model itself. It's in its SSC file which needs a correction.
Replace this SSC code :
Code: Select all
RotationOffset 280.5
RotationPeriod 23.9344694
with
Code: Select all
CustomRotation "earth-p03lp"
