Replacing Commas with Dots

Post #1by Spaceman » 08.06.2008, 10:56

Hello :D

At last i find why Celestia can't read my clusters that i create by Rassilon's Globular Cluster Generator :D . Here is an example:

420000 {
RA 279,00000000
Dec -23,90000000
Distance 10110,0000
SpectralType "S0V"
AppMag 16,00 # Radii: 4,18971959572752
}

The Generator use commas, which Celestia can't read them. Replacing with dots, the star become available for exploration. Is there a way to replace the commas with dots as simply and quick as possible? :?: :?

Yes, in your favourite text editor there is this really neat function called "search/replace"... :D

It's about one hour that i start the replace of commas to dots in a file (1,45 MB) and it's still replacing 8O :o
Can we make some modifications to the program itself, forcing it to make dots than commas?

There must be something wrong with your text editor, or the active session. It should do that job in seconds. What software / hardware are you using for this?

So Word is faster? Hmm. I usually stick with notepad, but I might start using Word now.
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

If I may here... What the hell is wrong with you people?
Why aren't you using Notepad2? Can handle extremely LARGE files, and can handle almost ANY special characters.
Sorry, but I simply do NOT understand why you would use Word. :roll:

Get the Freeware program Notepad2 HERE.
