Default textures of stars, why only one ?

Why is there only one texture mapped on all the stars, in the most recent version of Celestia (official package) ? In some previous version, Celestia used several textures, depending of the spectral type. I think it's a bad thing to only show a single texture for all spectral types. Why then are there several star textures in the last official distribution (astar.jpg, bstar.jpg, gstar.jpg and mstar.jpg), if only one is really used ?
