Dead Earth Texture

Hello,
After reading an article about Hawkings proposal of leaving Earth beacause of how the Earth is declining from Pollution, Rapid Gobal Warming, and what not. He says that we have to do this quickly or so before the extinction of Human Race.

Well, I want to incorporate into Celestia with some systems I had made for the Human future they venture in the Comos.
I was thinking of a Earth that has unstable ecosystems, unregularly temperaures. The is almost devoid of humans, the mass consturction colony ships have not the capaticy of the whole population. It mostly desert with little green. Maybe high water levels from melted ice caps.
I am not a real expert on this stuff, If guys have a location of a texture like this is, Thanks
