Dirdel and Binary

Last night, I gave my fictional planet (which has been on my computer since 2003) brand new textures. I took a 4k png earth map, cropped down to the pacific, stretched the image to make the ends meet seamlessly, fine-tuned it, wrapped the poles, and plastered it on Dirdel. It is THE most realistic earthlike planet texture i've ever done. For clouds, I used a north-hemisphere summer 2k cloudmap.

Here she is. Her twin planet, Binary, is out of view.

The only problem I encountered was doing the bump map. It's tough dealing with deserts... :? lol

So, what do you think?

Very nice !

But are these the Himalayas lying under the clouds, on the north hemisphere ?

Yeah, those are the himilayas. Like i said, I took a 4k map of earth, and cropped it down to the pacific. And yeah, I included Asia.

Then may I suggest something ? Try the same texture, but flipped Est <--> west, so it will be harder to recognise Asia.
