Sun Flare Size

Post #1by TourqeGlare » 27.06.2005, 04:29

Is there a way to achieve a sun flare of this kind in Celestia?

(Warning: PNG)

I resized the flare texture but all I got was an error report.
I surfed the motherlode and found nothing (though the + flare is
kinda cool.)
What can I do?

Hi,

You just have to edit the flare file... or create a brand new one at your taste (do it with Photoshop or the Gimp). The file must be a jpeg in grayscale (black is transparent white is visibl...

Cool.
The Gimp made me throw away MS Paint
(not really, its just tucked away)

I like the default flare, but I asked if there was a way to
make those cool sun effects in the movies, cuz all I see
when I look at the sun is just that: the sun. No large flare
or anything like that.

If the pic above was done in Celestia, it would be a white
dot in space.

I wanna know if there is a way to make a flare bigger
then 256 x 256 pixels and make it look great/not cause an
error report.

This are "Lens flare", and depend on the position of the source light, intensity and objectif type (from the camera)... At naked eyes, you will never see that kind of stuff... Right now I cannot see a way to reproduce the effect...
