Searching a 4k earth normal map...

Hi,

In the various files downloaded from everywhere, I have selected 2 normalmaps for eath (pictures 1 & 2) and I want to know if someone has something similar to picture 3 which is a mix of both, in 4k dds (I know dds is not very good with normals but it's for testing purpose)... As I'm working on osX I don't have a good tool to create dss files with good result; GraphicConverter give me a really weird result...

The first map is too sharpen, the second is pretty cool but I find the coasts are too marked out...

I don't have such small textures ;-) . Why don't you make the normal maps yourself, using Chris' nm16 code? Somewhere there is even a (buggy) Windows version of it. I would really install CYGWIN Linux under XP and then you can compile any code yourself.

I am posting two 4k normalmaps tonight for Plutonianempire to use and you are more than welcome to give them a shot. The link will be found in the Textures section of the forum under Earth Bumpmaps. I do not have a direct link yet as I am just preparing to upload the files.
BWT I can't garantee there quality as I through them together rather quickly strickly for testing purposes.

Heere are the two I posted. Give them a try. I don't how good they are as I used the Photshop plugin to make them.
If they don't work out I can make a few other for you.

I would love to, but find out my signature... osX...
I dream of the day those tools such the cmod converter, the mmps, etc... will be ported on osX... for now compiling is too much esoteric for me, I have to study the topic but don't have time... later... :?

Hello, John

If you have some home made maps, yes I'm interested... but I need very well processed ones without fake pixels zones... 4K (priority), 8k.
