The Worlds Of Star Wars!

I found a site that had some textures for making a few of the planets from the Star Wars universe. I worked them over some so I could get them to work with Celestia. Here are some pictures.

Coruscant:

Endor:

Hoth:

Tatooine:

Most turned out quite good and can be used for any other planet you would want to. Coruscant still needs a little work but it defently gives the impresion as seen in the movies. There were a few others but they need more tweaking or just didn't look to hot as far as I was concerned. If anyone wants these I can post the textures on my iDisk for everyone. They are considered free so I don't think there is any problem with sharing them. Let me have some imput on these.

Nice,
I like the last one, Tatooine, very much. Could you put that texture up on your site please.

All I did was to download the textures and resize them to fit with Celestia's requirments. Full credit must go to the original creators. Tatooine has a bumpmap that goes along with it. Thats how it has such good detail. Endor had to have the specular chanel pluged in to it via Gimp. The picture dosn't realy show the specular real well and I should have done a better screen capture but I was in a hurry. I will do another one and change the cloud texture to give it a better look. The others are going to require alot more work and I'm not shure wether I want to take the time to do any more with them. This was just an experiment to see how these textures would look in Celestia. Give me an hour and I will post some new shots.

Hello, Could you give Textures of your planets?
Because I begin a Star Wars Universe with Celestia but I haven't Texture (or no much).

Thank you.

Give me a day or so to fine tune them and put them together and I will zip them into a downloadable file.
Here are a few of the others worlds from Star Wars.

Nabu

Dagobah

Yavin & Yavin4

These still need some work but I will post them as is and everyone can do what they want with them. I will work on them a little more and have a better textures package later.

Sorry I didn't get back to respond sooner. I have been building computers for work.
Yes thats the web site.
Most of the textures are for 3D Max and have to be resized and tweaked to get them them to work with Celestia properly. These textures hold alot of potential and give you ideas on how to make your own. The Endor texture if you look real close is just alot of cut and paste on all Earths green continental areas. If you download the texture you will see a few groupings of the great lakes and you can make out the tropical regions of Africa and South America here and there. I used a similar technic to make the earth like textures for the moons of HD 28185. If you look close at my textures you can make out were they were cut from.
I have gone back to working on the Blue Mars texture. I have to work on the spec map to include more water filled craters. There were quite a few that were not giving specular casts and I have had a killer time trying to figure out how to get them in there. Again Gimp came to the rescue. You know that now that I have changed out my motherboard and video card I have not had one Gimp lockup just a small slowdown. I used the trick for creating specular maps on other textures and then I have been cutting and pasting in the missing craters. I have most of them done and there may be a few I just plain skip. I am working on the texture for 2048x1024 but am going to scale it down to 1024x512 for lower end video cards. I am also going to make a larger one 4096x2048 for those of us with 64MB or greater video cards. The detail you see at the higher resolution is incredable. I will have to do the same specular trick with the larger texture as well and it should take a while to complete. But rest ashured as soon as they are done they will get posted. :)

You did do a wonderful job on the specturals...It seems you have gotten the hang of creating them better...So now GIMP is something that you cannot live without eh?

Actualy if you check out the Windows XP Users Beware Subject my last entry there explains how I figured out what the problem was. All is wonderful in the Gimp world at this time.
I will post some new pictures of blue mars with the new specturals so you can get an idea of what its looking like.

Could you give an example of placement in celestia grid of Galaxy, System, planets in SCC file and DAT file.
Thank you
