Problem with a texture

Hello everyone! I would like to thank the creators of Celestia here and now for creating such a awesome simulator!!! Hats off...

Being a NooB to Celestia, I have been deep in study of all the material offered here for this great program. I am installing add-on textures to my planets now.

I am now working on Jupiter. I am trying to wrap this model with John V Vliet's 4k Jupitor Surface texture. This is a .png file. My .ssc file is:

AltSurface "4k Surface by John V" "Sol/Jupiter"
{
Texture "4kJupiter.png"
HazeColor [ 0.4 0.45 0.5 ]
HazeDensity 0.3
Radius 71492 # equatorial
# Oblateness 0.0649
}

I have the .PNG installed in the extras/jupiter/textures/hires folder.
The .ssc file in the extras/jupiter file.

The problem is that when I Altsurface to the 4k texture I get a solid white jupiter....wierd. I cannot figure out why???
I'm thinking that its the texture size...any suggestions or fixes anyone???

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Thanks agian.

Rob

Please read http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/addon-intro.html#6
which lists the common problems and suggestions for how to resolve them.

Rob,

I've encountered this problem many times. Celestia is either not finding
the correct texture, or it can't display the texture. See the following:

1)
Double-check ALL spelling and the name of the texture file. Many times, you've
just mis-spelled a word, or added a space somewhere.
2)
First make certain that the texture can be even be used. Edit the solarsys.ssc
file via notepad to point to your texture directly. Then, go to Jupiter and
see what you get. If it's there, then there's something wrong with your
alternate texture setup. You can always save and restore the original
solarsys.ssc file before and after your experiments.
3)
On *my* PC, I can't view a texture any larger than 1k because that's all
my lowly Intel graphics chip will allow. If I try to use a larger texture, I
get the white image you're seeing. However, this should NOT apply to the
planet textures. Celestia allows my system to use 2k textures, but I don't
know how far this capability expands. Usually, I see a white texture for
things like rings or models when they're too large for my graphics chip.

Hope that helps.

Take care, Bob
