Using dds texture really run faster than using png files.
I would like to ask if there are any websites providing dds files virtual texture??
For John's one,it mainly provides png format virtual texture

You can either use BM_VTEX.zip from this site:

or have a look at my VTs:
http://www.h-schmidt.net/celestia/earth-vt/ (no direct download, please ask by mail )
The normalmap however is JPG because DDS would produce visible artifacts - and the surface texture is unshaded, so it should be used with a normalmap.
