Sure enough that some people here know how to make planetary rings, otherwise Saturn would be without them in Celestia

Before asking for a tutorial, you should indicate first what you already know about image manipulation techniques!

-- ever heard about an alpha channel?
-- do you know what rgb textures are?
-- can you assemble a rgb texture together with an alpha channel?
-- do you know how to handle layers?
-- what image manipulation software are you familiar with?
-- what is your OS?

I have made them with photoshop...transparent png...very faint.

I've got WindowsXP. I'm very familiar with photoshop, but I don't know how to work with channels. It's something I never needed to work with.

Then I suggest you first read carefully about channels and the alpha channel in particlar in your photoshop manual.
Thereafter, you will be perfectly prepared for doing ring textures easily;-). This is all perfectly described in the manual or the many tips and tricks you find online.

The issue is of course that you need to understand how to handle varying transparency in the ring texture!
