To t00fri,
Although you claimed that your jupiter-clouds.png is 2048X1024,it isn?t because when I view properties,it says that is a 1024X512 texture. So, would like to know when a real 2k cloud texture will be available,if it?s possible

The texture jupiter.jpg on Fridger's site is a 2k texture. The texture jupiter-clouds.png is a 1k overlay to add some relative motion to the clouds - you should only be using jupiter-clouds.png if you already have jupiter.jpg.

I was talking about the cloud texture, not the jupiter.jpg texture.Anyway,I have a 4k jupiter.jpg texture from John?s site.I was wondering if could have a 2k jupiter-clouds.png,because at least in the case of Earth, the clouds become more and more detailed.Even,Mars is better with a 2 k texture than a 1k texture.Unless,of course, little is know about the high clouds of Jupiter,in terms of appearance.A 1k always seem a bit pixelated

Danielj,

Grant explained things correctly. But I would like to know where you got a 4k Jupi texture from? As far as I am aware, there are no genuine 4k Jupi's available...

Let me add that my 1k Jupi clouds are specially matched to my 2k jupiter.jpg main texture. Given the small information content in the cloud texture, I honestly think that 1k is enough to produce the desired cloud animation effect. Also my experience in making low-sized clouds look good was recognized for quite a while;-). My old 2k earth clouds are still a very good choice, I think...

I'm still using your 2k clouds now.
I just like the way they look.

Although i did edit them to a greyscale version
as i thought they had too much blue added to them
now they look perfect.
