First let me thank everyone involved with Celestia, what an awesome project!
My question is do you need to use seperate bump/normal/specular maps for each resolution texture? For example, if I have a 4K (medres) and 8K (hires) mars textures, do you need seperate 4K and 8K normal maps or can Celestia apply a single 4K map to both textutes and use less memory?
TIA,
Dave
Basic Textures Question
Hello DaveMc, and welcome to the Celestia forums
No you dont have to use diferent spec or bump maps for each resolution
But if you are using the "R" "shift R" keys to switch between the texture resolutions, it wil find and use other spec, bump or normal maps too
but if you only want to use the one spec, or bump, then just leave it in the medres folder.
and when you change to a hires texture it will still use the spec or bump from the medres folder.
