How do you resise texturs larger than 4096 x 2048

How do you resise texturs larger than 4096 x 2048

I just got a verry larg textur, and I cant vieav it in celestia, unles I resize it to the size of 4096 x 2048 or less, but when I try to use microsoft photo editor it ses that the textur is to larg to open, so does anyone hava program to open a file that big and resize it?

Use Adobe Photoshop or PhotoDelux or you can download THE GIMP, its free or any other real good image editing tool and them to resize the texture with the least amount of quality loss. Using MS Paint is not a good option.

Thank you, I tried the gimp, and it worked grate :D

P.S. It wasent MS Paint, it was MS Photo Editor

I use Gimp for windows and have had only small problems
when saving a 16k or8k image DONT copy over the old image -use save as (SomeNewName.png) gimp can crash when saving over a 100 to 300 MB image

my 8k earth is 96MB
