problem with "earth16k.dds"

I downloaded "earth16k.dds" and add it to the configuration file. I started the program again and earth looks like a mess with colored grid all over. When I zoomed to within several hundred kilo near the surface, the mess is gone. What's happening? Is it because of the troubled download? When unzipping I get a "crc error" warning, but I just igored it.

Same things happens to me... I think that zip files are corrupted! (
ftp://ftp.dasmirnov.net/astronomy/celes ... 6k_dds.zip) Don't download from this server!
Try this file:
ftp://212.84.245.251/textures/16k/earth16k.zip Its OK for me.
(But i dont know that files are same or not)

Thanks! It's strange that everything I downloaded from
ftp://ftp.dasmirnov.net/astronomy/celes ... ures/pixel has the same "CRC error". so I guess it might not be real CRC error.
Weird, any suggestion for the problem?

What program are you using to download the files?
Internet Explorer sometimes has problems with them.
Use an ftp utility instead.

Hey guys this has been discused many many times before. For some reason from time to time the zip doesn't get the final bit of info from the download and zip then gives you crc errors. The zips are not defective or corupted on the server. The best thing I can tell you is to copy the shorcut to the download and past it into a seperate download manager like Download Accelerator. This seems to do the trick. The other thing is the dasmirof server is very slow and if you loose contact and have to restart the download you may be loosing a bit of the file this way as well. Until someone is able to download all the files from the dasmirof server and host them elswhere this is going to be an ongoing problem. If I had access to a hundred megs of storage I would host the files myself. I do have have most of the files though and I can tell you it takes along time to get them all and in working order and I have a 1.5mb cable conection.
Just hang in there and keep trying. If you want them bad enough you will wait it out.
