2k Jupiter texture for 1.2.5

Recently, I have been busy packaging a number of 2k textures as defaults for the forthcoming 1.2.5 version. Below, I display what my 2k-jupiter presently looks like (top, note the faint ring!) in comparison with a recent cassini-2000 true-color photo (bottom):
Comments? Critics?
There is an optional rotating (fluffy-bumpmapped) cloud belt that in the present image is switched on.

Sure, they're the best Jupiter textures i've seen ever!

P.D. I can also recognize the rings i made for Jupiter, i'm grateful you liked 'em

So why did you become a theoretical physicist instead of an artist?
(I trust it's centered on the appropriate prime meridian for the epoch using the revised map origins!)

-)), well well, art and theoretical physics are sometimes not so far apart...In fact, believe it or not, I had painting lessons with a painter for 8 years as an adolescent and at that time seriously considered to become an artist;-).
The moving image looks still a bit more natural since the fluffy cloud belt is then in motion. Above it looks 'frozen', of course.
Let us proceed to more serious matter:

Before incorporating Grant's corrections, I adjusted the texture to XEphem's predictions, which I trust extensively;-).
Tonight, I am going to to check again the issue with the revised map origins.

Yes, the idea is that I am supposed to package a set of much improved "default" textures for the official 1.2.5, of course, with the limitation to essentially 2k in size. Otherwise, the size of the Celestia package would simply become monstrous...
This is a time-consuming process (if done well) and I hope to meet the "deadline", given my sometimes unhealthy professional workload;-)

well if package size is a problem then whynot make the first one with the base program and basic low res. textures, then make a few more optional packages, one with planet textures, one with moon textures, and one with various models and their textures?

I hope there will be an option for 2k JPGs & PNGs as well as the dds textures. It would be a shame for us folks with crappy cards (a laptop, in my case, so not upgradable) to be left stranded at 1.2.4 or 1.2.5pre.

I am exclusively planning as default textures JPG's &PNG's, since adding DXT's would make the archive too large, even with the 2k limitation. The DXT's and bigger size textures will have to be downloaded separately, e.g. from my TextureFoundry ...

Why not package two versions of Celestia
One for first time users of Celestia with standard video cards, 10 to 15 meg download.
(with al current textures)
and
One for advances users, with high end machines and video cards. 30 to 50 meg download.
( with mostly 2k dds textures )

Soon or later something like this will happen. But packaging "default" files in this rapidly proceeding business is not easy and very time consuming. For example, it took essentailly three evenings to tune Jupi to perfection (at least according to my standards;-)). The image above was after the fist evening only;-).
