O have two textures (for two hemispheres) 21600x21600 from ftp://gloria2-f.gsfc.nasa.gov:
MOD09A1.E.interpol.cyl.retouched.topo.3x21600x21600.gz
MOD09A1.W.interpol.cyl.retouched.topo.3x21600x21600.gz

I don't know how to use it. I unpacked it, but the files don't have specific format. In readme.txt in ftp is information: "Format: raw 8bit-per-channel RGB interleaved, 21600x21600" I have been changing the format to .raw, but corel photopaint 9 and photoshop 4.0 can't read it.

Well here we go again!
The textures are most likely in the TIFF format. If you managed to put them together you can't use them in Celestia anyway. The topic of these textures has been gone over till we are all blue in the face. You will have to size them way down to work. So go download the downsized versions from the start and save you and your video card from the wasted time.
The largest texture Celestia can work comfortbly with is 16384x8192. So why not just download a texture already at that resolution. Please save your time and energy for something you can actualy get to work with the program.
GOOD LUCK!

You know the ftp places a warning to not download those files without authorization first....Im not certain they want those to be downloaded without asking...granted anyone not in the us wont have to worry as much but I suppose they put that warning up for a reason....so anyone in america probably should use discretion...
