Frank,
I'm sorry to say that your URL looks fine on my home system:
System:
256MB 500MHz P3, WinXP Pro SP2
128MB GF4 Ti4200, Forceware v61.76
Celestia v1.3.2 final
Unfortunately, Chris had to hack the phpbb Forum software so that it'd even accept Cel://URLs, but they still can't be used in the embedded format, so you don't have to apologize.
How To Make Cloud textures?
Well damn!! Grrrrr! I have a P4 with 512 MB of RAM, and a GeForce 4 TI 4200 with 128 MB of video RAM. That is more than enough to be seeing what you're seeing. What the %^3$# is going on?
Possibly, there is a setting difference. My card is set to let the program autoselect everything. Should I be setting it differently?
Any ideas?
Frank

Frank,
Don't know what's going on at your end, but even *I* can view the
clouds above me, and in the proper context with my Brain-Dead machine.
Just thought I'd let you know about it.
Take care, Bob

Selden. My Nvidia drivers are a week old. Version 61410.6177.
I've seen the problem with the clouds not passing overhead with other cloud textures I've used. In fact, I've always seen it for the last year. It seems sporatic though. In some places, I get overcast skies when I'm under them. Even with DBrady's texture, I can go under an overcast sky in perhaps 50% of the surface area. The other 50% or so of a cloudy sky simply collects along the horizon and refuses to pass overhead as in my screenshot posted above, even if I try moving the scene or flying under a full overcast. I just get a blue sky above me.
I've set the clouds at 7 km and 0 speed, so the settings are not the problem either.
I changed my Earth texture to the Celestia default and I still have the problem, so it is not my Earth texture Any suggestions are useful. Does ANYONE else have the problem?

How does one make a cloud texture? Especially a realistic one?...John..
Hello John, I cannot help you giving help to create realistic images, but I can address you to this VERY realistic image of hurricane "Ivan"

It gives a good idea of how a storm is seen from the space.
Enjoy

I uploaded the 16k level for my clouds at the weekend. You can get them from from my directory at the motherload.

And a pic..
There's no data over the poles for this level. However the Tiles over the poles can be deleted if necessary and the clouds from the 8k level will show through, there will be a small mismatch in some places though doing this.
