Planetary Maps for an Exhibit

Hi,

I am an education assistant at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado. We are being involved with other area science institutions to create outdoor exhibits for a science trail through a new shopping mall. It's called "The Wonders of Twenty Ninth Street". (http://www.dailycamera.com/bdc/crossroa ... 65,00.html)

Our exhibit will feature scale models of the nine planets, with features painted on. To help the artists, we are trying to find Cartesian maps that they can use to paint the features on.

I may use some of the 2D maps available in the Celestia Motherlode, but they tend to vary widely. Does anyone here have experience in researching the "True Color" of the planets? I know it varies from mission to mission because of the different optics being used, but...is there a way to know for sure what a person would see if they were in orbit of a planet, looking out the window?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
