Bumpmap question

Post #1by PlutonianEmpire » 15.03.2006, 01:21

Does the bumpmapping here look anything at all realistic?

I think it looks okay, but a few craters here and there would probably add a touch of realism. Does Triton have visible craters in the Voyager images? If so then Pluto should have them as well.

It would also be easier to see the bump maps if a bland texture was used to demonstrate the bump map better.

A small note as well - Some people still use dialup. You should consider replacing the image with a thumbnail with a link to the larger image. Imageshack is good for this.

Basically, I added noise to the already existing terraformed pluto bumpmap, then blurred it out a bit.

Also, if pluto's surface was 100% ice, then all the craters would have melted along with the ice during the warmup. ;) :)
