My planet textures

Post #1by Beowulf01 » 16.10.2005, 23:11

I have seen some really nice planetary tortures on this board recently. I decided to uncloak and post a few images of what I have been working on, from time to time.
Image
a cold ice and water world

Image
a dry rocky world

Image
A Earth like world.

Image
A Jovian with rings.

Ive a whole batch of these any one interested, can go to this link and browse.

Well, I know what you mean. I'm experiencing a similar problem with my recent posts on textures ... no feedback at all.

You should try to use some bumpmap and specular maps on your telluric planet. We can clearly see the reflexion on the land itself, which isn't good.

And the rings around the giant doesn't look right. You need to work harder on them.

the first planet you showed us, frigia, is way good, but then again, I'm biased--I LOOOOVE ice worlds.

i just wanted to get a general feel from you all.
I haven't had much time to post or do much at all for Celestia, hopefully that will change.

This is not directly related, but your gas giant is suffering from the "dark hemisphere" bug with its rings. You can work around the problem by making the rings wider. If you want rings of those particular dimensions, the widening can be done by adding transparency at the rings' outer edge.

= rings
... transparent zone

Interesting stuff (though I'm not generally a fan of fictional add-ons). I was wondering if you used any Earth pictures to make Sparta; it looks like a bit of South Africa is stuck in there... or am I imagining things?
