Jupiter's rings

I've found those Jupiter rings from John's site :

Are they realistic ? I think they are way exagerated. Any opinion ? Where are the most realistic rings for Jupiter ?

I have the rings from one of Frank's addons...I think they may be a bit more transparent, although I think it depends a lot on how you've got your graphics set up!

hi two days ago i updated the rings to be the correct size

but as for there transparency ?
I still want to be able to see them but only very faintly

i do tend to go for an artistic look rather than being 100% correct

Pardon the intrusion from the Brain-Dead, but aren't Jupiter's Rings
(The REAL Rings!) depicted more accurately by the following image?

I got these rings after a very painstaking search of a myriad of scientific
web sites, and after questioning someone I trust implicitly in such matters,
(Grant Hutchison).

Are you telling me that Jupiter now has Saturn-Like rings? :roll:

I learned in my travels that Jupiter's rings are very tenuous, and very
difficult to see under the best circumstances. Am I wrong here?

The Braindead One is correct, those rings are far more like the real Jupiter rings. In fact, a good layout of the rings can be found here

But to the naked eye, they are pretty much homogenous in appearance; indeed, they are almost entirely invisible, except when backlit by the sun.

I cant even see any rings on mine. Yet in previous versions of Celestia I could see a very feint line.

the link that dollan gave is what i used for the size
but i go for an artistic look rather than a 100% correct
and no these arn't saturn like they are very wispy and thin

but to each there own

Yeah, they look fine for an artistic endeavor. I didn't mean to criticize, by the way, sorry if it sounded like it. And considering that I still haven't been able to figure out how to make the things yet (all of my attempts have been failures most miserable), I can only say that these rings look great!

Well, if you like, I can e-mail you a copy of the Jupiter realistic rings. Just
say the word...

Personally, I want my Celestia experience to show me as much of the
realistic universe as I can get. That's just me though. I've also found
that most of the real things in the universe are far stranger than
fiction anyway.

I also didn't mean to criticize John's work. I had just assumed that he was
another of those rocket scientists who was now telling me that Jupiter had
Saturn-like rings. :roll:

You already know that I'm Brain-Dead, so just consider the source. :wink:
