i've seen plenty of info and tools for converting bump maps to normal maps, but how about the other way around?

Hi, you can try it with Corel Painter: go to "Effects" and choose "surface textures" than applay bump effects with "Image luminance" and after change the mode color in gray. For that is good Painter from 4 until 8 . If you don't have it you can downloaded with "Hotline " or "frogblast " surching it here: tracker-tracker (on google). ciao...

I won't condone piracy, but fortunately Painter 7 was on the required software list for school, so I already have it. I'll try that out, thanks!
