Why is it necessary using normal maps and the regular files at the same time?I put moon4k texture and my frame rate was average. But,I realize that some textures(like craters) wasn?t very accurate. So I put the normal map 4k for the Moon. But,then,my frame rate was below 15 fps;so I put 2k texture in Moon again.
I would like the Moon with bigger resolution, but it seem that 2 textures at the same time was too big to aford. The textures were jpg.
Do anyone know about Moon dds textures?
My computer is,as Isaid:
Athlon XP 1800
256 MB DDR 256 RAM
Shuttle AK-32A
Geforce 4 MX 440 SE 64 MB AGP 4X

driver Detonator 43.45 for Windows XP
screen resolution 800X600X32
magnitude limit 6.2
Properties of GF 4 MX

Do anyboody can help me?
Normal Map
IMO, This is the best moon texture about at the moment
So try this http://63.224.48.65/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2824
start with the 4k, for now, then try the 8k if all is well.
And it really doesn't need a bump map, it looks great as it is.
Try to use as many DDS texture as you can, when useing large texture.
they take up less ram.
