Seeing as there's a thread elsewhere asking for (among other things) an improved sun/star texture, I'd thought i'd be a good idea to post this sun texture based on real data (the current star texture in Celestia isn't, I think). It looks quite impressive in Celestia, similar to real astronomical photos. How realistic it is, I don't know... does anyone think it'd be a good idea to use this texture in the Celestia release? I'm sure the author would agree for us to use it.

That looks like the sun's surface as seen through a hydrogen alpha filter. I imagine we want to use a texture that represents what the sun looks like in visible light in Celestia... still, it wouldn't hurt using it as an alternate texture for the sun, if that's possible?
