Re: Genetica
I was referring to the rendering side of the program. I use gimp, and get some really cool effects (for me anyway.) and I've also used some of Genetica's textures for some worlds I've added to Celestia...here's a few.
The other reason I ask is because included in the sample packs are renderings of worlds someone has created using Genetica...

Re: Genetica
Things never go as I like...the earthlike world is someone else's creation. The icy and rocky planets are the ones I added. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a half-wit when it comes to computers...

Re: Genetica
Those are good!
Re: Genetica
I can't take the credit...I just used them. The top one is one that comes with the program as you see it (globe). The other two are more usable textures.
Re: Genetica
The top one looks fractal like lunarcell. I use it often.

Hi, Reiko. Lunarcell is able to make clouds? We need good (8, 4k) Earth clouds textures...
Never at rest.

Re: Genetica
And to throw my question on top of his...is LunarCell used in conjuction with PhotoShop? I think I remember looking at it before, but I can't remember if that was a plug in for it or not. At anyrate, I'll try and get something really slick together for an eventual add-on...
By the way, how many different programs do any of you use to create a system?

Yes it's a plugin for photoshop and paint shop pro.Sunchaser wrote:And to throw my question on top of his...is LunarCell used in conjuction with PhotoShop? Re: Genetica
I've been getting very good results with it lately after much tinkering...While LunarCell is good, and I know a lot of people here use it, I found I like Genetica a smidge more. (The other reason being my lunarcell demo expired and I can't render anything. )
Although one does have to do a little extra work on the images, it's mostly just tiling it (which they do flawlessly) and removing the polar pinch (now that I learned how to do that, I don't know why I submitted my Tegmine system as I did. )
I do have this to say, however...While the Genetica demo program is great, it will expire after 30 days. However, texture files can be moved from it to the Genetica Viewer. While the viewer is limited in what you can do to the texture, it doesn't expire, and you can punch up a base texture quickly enough and Gimp the ever-lovin' snot out of it!
No, this is not a commercial.

Re: Genetica
There's a Gimp plugin that lets you use Photoshop plugins (so you might be able to use Lunarcell in Gimp). I believe it was mentioned here on this site.
And its been sitting in my Download folder for months and I haven't tried it yet.

Re: Genetica
I have something different. A zip file named gimp-pspi-1.0.7.win32.zip.
It has a single file inside, lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\pspi.exe.
A quick Google finds me the exact place I got it:
http://tml.pp.fi/gimp/pspi.html
Another Google (with site:celestiaproject.net/forum) leads me to this:

Its in the first post by Fenerit.
