(Gimp) I need help adding ocean to a texture!

Post #1by Mynameislol » 11.08.2009, 14:17

Hello, I am new here. I thought i posted a topic some minute ago, But it didn't show up! But back on topic. I am trying to make a terraformed moon texture. But to do that, i need water on the texture. I wanna know how to make water in the craters by using a bumpmap, heighmap or a elevation map!

This is a straightforward task, PROVIDED you master the use of GIMP at an advanced level. Before it makes sense to explain the needed steps, you should have practiced with one of the excellent GIMP tutorials that teaches users how to work with layers, masks and different blending modes.

Let me know if/when you are fit with these operations...

all you would need to do is gradient map the Gray tones to the "ocean" tones and mask and blend the image

i did that for the very old "blue Mars"
