Hi symaski62,

thank you for your answer.

You mean I have to upload and some one make for me ?

or you mean I have to put to the same named directory on my computer and then compile ?

The second is what I have done. But I think I have to rename the file as the one that Celestia use during compilation, or I am wrong?

Ciao

Hi Alessandro,

Just follow the instructions under "Installing a new catalog file".

The patch has been commited, so if you are building from CVS you don't need to apply it.

Hi Christophe,

i got now a problem executing msgfmt on my it.po

it.po:1:2: parse error

and if i execute msgfmt with fr.po no problem, but if i open fr.po in notepad and save it i got the same error (parse error)

is notepad the wrong editor ?

Yes, notepad can't deal with UTF-8 files.

You need a unicode capable text editor. You can also use a PO file editor like poEdit.

Hi,

after I have translated the .po file in italian with poEdit then compiled with gettext in it.gmo I have to put it in a directory ..\locale\it\LC_MESSAGES\ by renaming in celestia.mo, right ?

but where is this directory ..\locale\it... ?
to run celestia in an other language, have to run celestia-i18n.exe ?
if I send the file to http://celestia.teyssier.org/i18n is some better ?
is really possible for anyone to compile Celestia in an other language ?

sorry for these many question, and thank you for your help.

ciao

locale is in your celestia installation directory (the one were data\, fonts\, shaders\ etc are).

Yes

If you send your po file it will be commited to CVS and become part of the next release of Celestia.

Yes, with the limitation that menus and dialogs are not translated yet. This should be taken care of soon.

Hi Christophe,

sorry but I cannot find celestia-i18n.exe
I founded celestia-1.4.1-i18n.tar.tar on your http://celestia.teyssier.org/i18n but the command tar xvjf celestia-1.4.1-i18n.tar.bz2 do not work on my PC and the file extension is .tar not .bz2
I've downloaded bzip2 but do not work with this file.

what I am doing wrong please ?

thank you for your help.

If you don't have the .bz2 extension it's probably that your browser has silently uncompressed the file.

Winzip and other similar utilities are able to work with tar and tar.bz2 files, you can use one of these if you don't have tar.

Error reading header after processing 0 entries.

I made the same archive using zip: http://celestia.teyssier.org/download/win32/celestia-1.4.1-i18n.zip, it should make it easier for you.
