That planet and that ring both look oddly familiar...

Also, why are the pictures links?

Also, why are these posts about addons in the "Celestia Development" Forum?

The hot planet looks nice though.

yep, really nice ones.
where did you get the textures from or which program did you use to generate them?
most recent celestia win32-SVN-build - use at your own risk (copy over existing 1.5.1 release)

I like the temperature of Crematoria - was that intentional? :P

I'd say that blue planet is the original version of exo-class3.jpg included in the Celestia distribution (I've subsequently submitted a version without the probably unrealistic cirrus clouds, so I don't think v1.4.1 has this particular texture). You can get it off CVS here.

I generated the texture using POV-ray, and subsequently edited various features using the GIMP. I'll state in advance that the typical reaction I get when recommending POV-ray to artists is that they really, really hate the interface.

Texture is public domain, so do what you will with it.

-----

If people are interested, I'll post the code I used to generate the exo-class#.jpg textures, but it won't be much use unless you actually know POV-code.
